Umbilical cord blood cells are not same as stem cells.
Stem cells can differentiate into any cell. But umbilical cord cells are already differentiated into blood cells.

Umbilical cord blood cells are not the same as embryonic stem cells.

If you know, umbilical cord blood cells are multipotent, whereas embryonic stem cells are pluripotent. (:

embryonic stem cells can differentiate into any other cells in a human body except for the membrane of the one cell zygote,
whereas umbilical cord blood cells can only differentiate into blood components. yep (:

No, umbilical cord blood cells are adult stem cells (ASCs) meaning that they are multipotent, or are able to develop into a limited types of different cells.  See "Potency Definitions" on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stem_cell.  This does not mean that cord blood cells are less "potent", but have less potential for becoming other kinds of cells.

Embryonic stem cells (ESCs) are pluripotent, or have the potential to develop into a whole array of different cell types that become organs (heart, skin, stomach, etc.).   Again, they are not more "potent", but have more potential than multi-potent
