Need help developing knowledge of the illuminati, mainly with religion. Thanks.?

Question

First of all, I know that religion was created to convince people's minds into believing ridiculous illogical stories of supreme beings who created the world, us, ect, and that god is merely a product of our imagination. I'm just very skeptical of the illuminati's existence. How do we know the illuminati isn't just a fake society that we're meant to believe in, to cover up the mess of this world by the real society behind it all which remains unknown. They're supposed to be unknown and secret and yet there's thousands upon thousands of people who are aware of this group. Where is the genuine truth? If you have any decent sites of information and videos regarding the illuminati creating religion and how they all started, that will be very appreciated. Thanks

If the Illuminati actually existed and wasn't the hoax that it is, it would still be extremely silly to claim that they "created religion" especially when we can trace various religions throughout history and can see how religions form along with cultures.
