How can I get out of credit card debt?

0 votes
I am in debt with my 2 credit cards.  I stopped making payments months ago because my payments were not making a dent in my balance.  I was making $100.00 payments every month.  The one credit card offered to make an agreement with me to pay them $800.00.  If I had that amount of money, I wouldn't have used my credit card.  Please help.

you really didnt give enough to answer the question. How much is the debt for each one? More then likely they closed the credit account by now so the issue is just paying it off. Ask them to just allow you to settle sell them a sob story with the credit market down they arent going to turn your money away

There's a good article on this here:

But, basically, the key is communication. Call them, tell them what you CAN afford to pay each month, ask them to set an interest rate of 0% or as low as they can go to help you pay off some principal, and then set up a plan with automatic payments for that amount.

If you are behind, they should be willing to work with you.
