Does the California Lemon Law cover used salvaged cars?

0 votes
I recently bought a salvaged car from a small dealership and it has been giving me transmission problems. I've already taken it to them twice to repair it and it still gives me the same problem. I want to know if I qualify for the lemon law. Please help. Thanks

I agree with mustanger about the fact that you probably shouldn't expect coverage under the law for your purchase of a salvaged automobile.  However, if we're right about that, then I disagree with him and suggest you try to find a salvaged transmission to replace yours.  Although the car the part came from may be "junk", many of components in it are perfectly functional, and are thus "salvaged".  I use www.car-part.com to find replacement parts from low-mileage (or sometimes new) vehicles that were written off as total losses.  Indeed, a lot of these places now (rightly) call themselves "automotive recyclers".  I hope this helps...

Lemon laws were never designed to cover stuff from a junk yard. Anyone who would buy a salvage vehicle should be aware that "salvage" is just a nice way to say "junk". It's sort of like calling a garbage collector a "sanitation engineer". Sounds fancy but doesn't change the facts.
