Does anyone know the approximate cost of banking cord blood?

I've tried to contact the cord blood registry to get this information and they refuse to just give me the price.  Then they continually call to see if I am interested.  I just wanted a rough estimate on the cost of it to see if it is even an option financially for me.

They refused to give you the price??? Try to call Viacord, or Cord blood Registry. I think is about 145 per month for the first yr. then is about 100 per yr. you have to pay the kit first and get it before your baby is born. try to do it soon. I didnt have the money to do it  but if you can do it, it will be a great help. also check on the websites, sometimes they show the costs there too. you can also apply if you have good credit and have less interests if you are paying monthly. Im not too sure, but check those two that i gave you, they sounded really good  wehn i called.

It's very very expensive!  Can't remember exactly because I got the info with my 1st son who is now 2 but it was like $2,000 to start and then like so much a month for the rest of his life.  I wanna guess and say like $50 a month.  They send you a kit to bring with u to the hospital when you deliver and you just give it to the doctors and let them know to save your cord blood then they bill you for it.  I never got it done.  Couldn't afford it at the time.

The price at ViaCord begins at $1500 for collection of the cord blood and then $95/year for storage. Since the blood is saved for up to 21 years, the total cost would be about $3500, unless you prepay for storage, which can save you up to $500.

The Cord Blood Registry has similar pricing, with a $1290 enrollment and processing fee and then a $95/year storage fee, although you can save some money here too if you prepay for storage.

I'm sorry that they are harassing you!

It's about $1,000 USD up front followed by monthly bills of about 150. It gets cheaper as the child gets older I believe.
