Can I go back to work after lasik eye consultation?

I have an appointment for lasik eye consultation.  I understand they're going to dialate my pupils but will I be able to go back to work the same day?  Has anyone had this done before?  Please share your experience.  I'm trying to decide if I need to take half the day off work.  Thanks.

LASIK eye surgery can perform miracles - it can give you relief from wearing corrective lenses. It can cure nearsightedness, astigmatism and farsightedness. The procedure is quick and painless, offering almost immediate results. And due to advances in technology and the wide demand for this type of service, LASIK is quite economical.

LASIK eye surgery is now so common that millions of people have decided that it was time to abandon their corrective lenses, once and for all. There are so many LASIK clinics that you're likely to find one close by, no matter where you live.

The technology has made significant improvements and the process is essentially automated to a large extent. The more progressive LASIK eye surgery centers invest heavily in the latest technology, automating not only the actual LASIK procedure, but also the data gathering process that happens first, during your evaluation. You eyes are examined by a computer and precise contour data is recorded. This data is then used during the surgery procedure to make sure that your resulting vision will be as close to perfection as possible.

The first thing to expect after LASIK eye surgery consultation is that your vision may be blurred. This blurring usually begins to resolve itself and goes away normally within a day or so. You may also feel that your eyes are irritated after completion of your procedure. Some people describe this irritation as feeling like you have a grain of sand in your eye.

In very rare cases, your eye may develop an infection. If for some reason you do develop an infection, consult your doctor right away.

A consultation or a work-up exam? Sometimes those are done at different times. At the work-up exam, when they thoroughly examine your eyes to get everything just right, they put lots of drops in your eyes so thy can do their tests, and your vision will be blurry for the rest of the day, you won't be able to focus them. Fair warning: your eyes will be numb and it feels really weird.
Find out what they'll be doing on the day of your consultation. If it's just looking over the paperwork, signing forms, and watching the informational video, you won't need to take any time off work that day. Just bring some questions for them to answer.

You will probably have to take ½ a day and a ride.  The procedure makes your vision blurry for a few hours.
