First time homebuyers tax credit question?

We purchased a house in august on 08 and we did not claim the credit because we would have to pay it back. Can we claim it on this years taxes and do we have to pay it back?

you can't claim it on this year's taxes.you'll have to amend your 08' tax return to claim the credit and yes you'll still have to repay the credit.

You can amend your 2008 return and claim it. Yes you'll have to pay it back.

Yes, you can claim it on 2009 tax return. It still remains refundable credit; you must return it back.
I suggest that you should take it.
