when lenders ask for the previous years income tax return, do they want returns filed by an accountant or me?

I have a situation where lender requires my 2007 income tax return to verify my self-employed income for a mortgage application and my accountant will not have ready in time to allow lender to process loan and then be able to waive conditions on my offer to purchase. Should I get my records back and file myself?

Don't matter. They want the returns that you filed with the IRS.  I assume they are the same

one piece of advice - don't write off anything or close to nothing - they are going by your income and if you make 300,000 but have 250,000 in writeoffs you are screwed!

Your taxes are due in 2 weeks.  Can you wait on your loan for 2 weeks until you have your info from your accountant?  Can you prod your accountant to finish up because you need it for this loan?

They just want whatever info you are telling the IRS...

good luck!
