Will I get the first time homebuyer tax credit?

I just put in an offer on a house, and supposevly the bank is making a decision within 48 hours. If the bank sends me an acceptance, will this make me eligible to receive the =$8,000 credit? I believe an accepted offer should qualify as a contract in writing. Can I get the credit with this?? Or do I need an actual P & S? On the IRS website it only mentions a binding contract must be in writing.

You need to sign an ACTUAL contract by April 30 to qualify and this MUST be in writing and signed by BOTH parties. An accepted offer is NOT the same as a written contract. Contracts MUST be in writing when it comes to purchasing real estate.
