There was never enough support for the income tax bill to make it an actual law, how did Capone get sentenced?

The law to make us citizens pay income tax was never ratified. There were too few votes to make it law. So how was Al Capone sentenced for Tax Evasion when there is no law saying you have to pay taxes?

The United States Constitution, Article 1, Section 8,Clause 1, states, "The Congress shall have the Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States."

The Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution, ratified on February 3, 1913, states, "The Congress shall have the power to lay and collect taxes on income, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."

Congress used the power granted by the Constitution and Sixteenth Amendment, and made laws requiring all individuals to pay tax.

Congress has delegated to the IRS the responsibility of administering the tax laws- known as the Internal Revenue Code (the Code) and found in Title 26 of the United States Code. Congress enacts these tax laws, and the IRS enforces them.

Face it, folks.  Taxes are a part of life.

They can be a pain, but the next time you call 911, remember: without taxes, there would be no EMS to help you.  The next time you drive on a road, remember: without taxes, there would be no public roads for you to drive on.

Don't know where you found this urban legend, but it is a crock.  The Income Tax is part of the Constitution thanks to the 16th Amendment.

"Too few votes" is BS.  Do you honestly believe that no ambulance chasing lawyer has ever been able to sue the government if that were true?  Where are all the law suits?

There is no "law" that allows women to vote either, and THAT right is the 19th Amendment, yet you never hear anybody trying to say women can't vote, now do you?

PS, once the amendment for income tax passed, it was levied only on 1% of income over $20,000 per year....in 1913

Now, you seem smart so it's a crying shame you haven't realized that the one thing the government hates most is being jipped out of their (cough) well earned money. So whether or not it's a law and no I have not checked to see if you have your facts straight, regardless though, the government will do as it pleases. Throughout history we've been known to bend the rules as we see fit. Americans are greedy people, especially those that hold office in this country.
It was "law" based on the Constitution of the United States that no third person would ever control US money. Yet instead of the US Treasury really keeping track of our money we are fined through a third party bank for funds made by and earned by Americans. That just goes to show how well we Americans value law and what our forefathers REALLY meant for this country.

If people would stop denying Reality, they might find they have enough power to change it.

It is not going to go away just because you claim it doesn't exist.

The "never was valid" crowd is being fed a load of BS, and they swallow it happily because that's what they WANT to hear.  It simply isn't true.
