What is the minimum age a baby/child can be to qualify for the tax credit?

I will be due in dec 2009 will my baby qualify next yr  for tax  credit.?

You can claim the child tax credits for your 2010 tax return not 2009. To claim the tax credit for 2009 the child has to be close to six months old in 2009 to claim full tax credits. I can't remember the exact months.  I'm sure the IRS has it on their site somewhere.

Otherwise the child needs to be under 18 years old unless is in college and under 24 years old.

Baby born in 2009 can be claimed on 2009 tax return. Yes, you will get tax credit.

If the baby is born on or before 12/31 then you will qualify for the credit in 2009.

Ignore all the 6month rule people. That is not for newborns or children who die in the current year. Any baby born in the tax year counts.
