Here's my impression from a recent test drive. Pros: It's very quiet, handles well and has decent acceleration for an electric car (even in "eco" mode). You can command the climate control on while it's plugged into the charger so it's nice and cool or warm when you're ready to go. Also, there's no gasoline engine. Only fluids are brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, and coolant for the power inverter/electronics.
Cons: VERY limited range. Most people will only see a range of 90-120 miles; and that 120 miles is on the high end of even Nissan's estimates. There's no coolant coming from an engine, so it has an electric heating element for the heater which is very inefficient and reduces the car's range considerably when in use. It rides like a small car; very stiff suspension and a fair amount of road noise. And the sticker shock will kill you: around $34K depending on options. Oh, and it relies on a network of futuristic charging stations which is virtually non-existent. Many cities are considering the charging stations, but there are only a handful in the country at the moment.
If you live very close to where you work, and you have the ability to charge the car while at home and at work, and you never take long trips, and you don't put anyone over about 5'10" in the back seat, and you never have to load a bunch of stuff in the back with kids in the back seats, then it might be a good investment. But for the money, I'll stick with something that has a little better than a 100 mile range.
