I was wondering why is that and i will be entering the apprenticeship program soon for san diego shipyard and i was wondering how do you know if it will cover it for free if nothing is wrong with your face or anything.I myself do have a problem breathing through my nose but not where it think i would need a nose job but i mean if it got to the point i just got sick of it.

I think your dad might not completely understand his benefits.  If he is in the military he is covered under TriCare.  Tricare does not cover lasik surgery.

Additionally, TriCare and most other insurance will cover reconstructive surgery (cosmetic surgery if needed for reconstruction.  However, TriCare and all other insurance companies will not cover cosmetic surgery just because you want something changed.  There is a difference with what insurance companies consider reconstructive for children as compared with adults.

Regarding your specific scenario, this is called a diviated septum.  Insurance covers the correction of diviated septum (they may exclude it for a specific person when the insurance is purchased), meaning the actual correction of the internal workings of the breathing path.  No insurance will cover the cosmetic portion of the surgery, if the person is an adult.  Most doctors will give this part of the procedure for a greatly discounted cost because it's just a little more work after fixing the structural problem.

Its up to your doc, my friend had a front tooth missing and they replaced it with a fake tooth. It wasn't necessary for his health or survival but the NAVY doc decided to do it anyway

They would do things like that to make a service members look better, no branch wants their sailors walking around with one front tooth. But if nothing is wrong with you and you just want to be prettier for no reason then they will never do it. Also if its expensive and you dint need it then they wont do it nor will they pay for a civilian doc to do it

It doesn't cover cosmetic surgery.  No insurance company does, unless it's restorative.  That means, something happened like an accident or disease, and the insurance pays for cosmetic surgery to fix you up like you used to look like.

Nose jobs don't help with breathing.  Deviated septum surgery, which relieves breathing issues, is covered WHEN it's medically necessary - and doesn't change how your nose LOOKS.
