How much real environmental damage does the Nissan Leaf cause?

The manufacture and disposal of batteries is a very messy business. Over it's life, the liberal dream ride Toyota Prius, causes more environmental destruction than a full-size Land Rover Discovery.

What is the real damage to the environment with the coal-fired Nissan Leaf, once displaced emissions are taken into account and the environmental damage done with the manufacture and disposal of the batteries? Is it worse than a Ford Explorer that won't suddenly die between 30 and 80 miles?

The manufacturing of its batteries causes more pollution than it stops from co2 emissions.
