Overall cosmetic surgery would be frowned upon because it usually just has to do with vanity.  Add on the enormous price tags that go along with it and you can see how ridiculous it can be.

Though, if it's done for someone who really does need it, such as someone who had a burnt face or was in an accident, then it wouldn't be frowned upon.

Also, if somebody is really uncomfortable with, say, a disporportioned nose or disfigured limb I don't think that such a thing would be frowned upon also.

I think the big problem comes when it's done just for vanity's sake, to look younger or better than you already look (assuming you have at least "normal" looks).

Sorry I didn't have time to look through different social teachings and the such, but I do know that things that are done solely for vanity's sake are not considered important---so therefore, spending a fortune on cosmetic surgery, just to look "really" good would not be a good thing to do.

It is not sinful unless it is done for vanity alone or it is done to excess.  A tummy tuck after five pregnancies or a breast reduction which will also alleviate back pain are fine.  Warping your body in freakish or over the top ways is sinful as it is a destruction of God's creation.

Also, getting cosmetic surgery after cancer or an accident or to fix a birth defect is not sinful.  Getting double HH breasts and warping your sixty year old body into some strange mess is sinful - obviously.

The majority would probably view it as wrong, because you are changing the masterpiece of God - your body.
