Cat has open rash on belly? PLEASE HELP ME?

0 votes
i was searching my recently turned 3 year old cat's fur for burrs as i do routinely every time he comes inside and i removed a few but then felt what i thought was a large clump of burrs, i moved his fur to see that the skinned actually peeled open a bit and looked like it could be a infection , he showed little discomfort at this and no blood came from the area, it feels lumpy like something could be under his skin and or fur. WHAT IS IT?

it sounds like he's brushed against something he's allergic to or nettles.animals can react the same way to some plants etc the same way we do. Take him to the vet is your best bet. you'll probably get some cream to put on to soothe irritation. if theres an actual infection they will be able to stop that before it gets any worse. poor kitty. hope he gets better soon.

It could be an abscess, a mat, ticks, ringworm or any other number of things. Is it warm to the touch? Did clear, white or pink fluid come out?
In the mean time clean the area with gauze dipped in peroxide. If you have Neosporin you can put a little on the wound. Neosporin will cause some of the fur to come off - don't worry though.
In the morning take him to the vet. Good luck!
